I hope that momentum behind this effort grows.  Yes, Haiti's government has been corrupt at times (but what government has not?), however canceling debt and providing relief from the accompanying interest payments appear sensible given the circumstances.

This policy will provide relief, but I fear that it will not address the cycle of poverty and inequality in Haiti.
